Shell Molding- Good Surface Finish and Tight Tolerances
Shell molding also known as shell-mold casting, was developed back in the 1950´s so it has been around for quite some time. It is a method that gives good surface finishes with dimensional accuracy and tight tolerances when digital milled models are exclusively used. With digital drawings, we even have the possibility to mold geometrics that were previously impossible, like the thin-walled steel castings as thin as 3mm, for example. Much to our advantage, we can even produce cores using this method. Shell molding is best used for medium to large series. Weight range between 0.5kg-50kg.
